The Nevada Gaming Control Board announced that companies that would like to be based in Nevada and offer online poker will be able to apply for licensing in February 2012. The poker licensees will be able to offer interstate online poker should the federal government in the U.S. expressly legalize it and regulate it. The surprise came when gaming regulators stated that these licenses would be good for intrastate online poker as well and that would not require federal approval. In other words, intrastate online poker could just be a few months away for Nevada.
I live in Nevada so this is some really big news for me as it will bring easy access to online poker, even if the field will be quite small. This should be good news to all online poker players in the U.S. too. That is because this is Nevada's chance to prove to the rest of the country that online poker can be offered on a secure platform. Many of the opponents of online poker claim that underage gambling, gambling addiction and cheating will run rampant in an online poker environment. Nevada online poker operators can show that these issues can be controlled and that online poker can be played securely within the U.S.
If Nevada can pull off online poker without any problems, then other states that have been on the fence about it will be more likely to pass online poker regulations. It may also help the federal government pass the laws. Even if it is only passed on state levels, there could still be networked poker rooms. There are nearly 40 states that link their state lotteries to multi-state drawings like Powerball and Mega Millions. States could do the same with their online poker networks to help increase liquidity.
Online poker in Nevada will likely be very small. It will be nowhere near as successful as it would be in bigger states. Regardless of whether it makes money, it will make Nevada a test market for online poker companies. During this trial online poker companies can train their employees, make software improvements and figure out all of the processing issues before they get busy. Launching online poker in a small state makes total sense to me as a soft launch to online poker in the U.S. will help work out all of the issues before launching on a full, interstate scale.
Believe it or not, there was a time in online poker’s history that there was no such thing as rakeback. When the seeds of Rake Tracker were first planted in 2003 almost all poker rewards came in the form of bonuses. Soon players wanted more. The RakeTracker business first started small, offering rakeback to players on a one-on-one basis and through referrals.
As the business grew, RakeTracker.com was launched as one of the first full-scale rakeback providers on the internet providing players with additional perks that they could receive in addition to bonuses – payout out rakeback since 2004. Now many years later, players still flock to RakeTracker for industry leading rakeback deals, monthly poker promotions in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and top quality customer support.
All live and online card rooms take “rake” and “tournament fees” to run and operate their games. The amount of rake or fees taken will vary by game type and stake levels, but will generally be 5% of each pot for ring games and around 10% of the buy-in for tournaments.
With rakeback, players are returned a percentage of the rake that is attributed to them, usually 27%-40%. Simply put: Receiving rakeback and other promotions help winning poker players win more and losing poker players lose less. There is no reason not to get rakeback!
Getting rakeback is easy through RakeTracker: simply create a RakeTracker account, then using our referral links download the poker site’s software, add the tracker to your account and you are ready to go! Detailed instructions are available on each site’s review page.
