Full Tilt Rakeback and FTP Changes, Plus Black Card

09/30/2010

Full Tilt unveiled a series of changes today, most of them positive. Changes include a switch to weighted contributed rakeback, new FTP earn rates and the introduction of Black Card.

Switch from Dealt Rakeback to Weighted Contributed

Full Tilt had previously been under the Dealt method of calculating 27% rakeback. Starting October 1st, they will move to the weighted contributed method. This is generally considered the most fair way to calculate rakeback as it gives a player credit for their % contribution to the rake. Tight-passive players may notice a small reduction in the amount of rakeback they receive, whereas more aggressive players will notice an increase. An example of weighted contributed: if you contribute $10 to a pot that reached $30 and was raked $1.50, you would receive 33% of the of the rake or $0.50 ($10/$30).

Full Tilt Points Earn Rates Changed

Previously, each player dealt cards would receive 1 Full Tilt Point for every $1 in rake taken from the table. Now 10 FTPs will be given to the table and divided equally to all players dealt cards for each $1 in rake taken. This change gives all players MORE FTPs than before and gives players a more uniform return when earning them. Since bonuses are cleared with FTPs, bonuses will now clear faster, assuming clearance stay the same (16.67 FTP or 20 FTPs per $1, depending on what bonus you clearing). The 100% up to $600 sign-up bonus will now clear at an equivalent rate of 60% rakeback, or 71% when combined with rakeback. This is up substantially from before, particularity for shorthanded players.

Black Card, a new Reward System for Higher FTP Earners

Today Full Tilt also launched the Black Card program, a new rewards system that will benefit higher rake generators. Don't worry: Iron Man isn't going anywhere. The Black Card program is in addition to all the great promotions that Full Tilt offers. Players qualify for this new great promotion by maintaining an average of 500 Full Tilt Points per day over a rolling 100 day period. The promotion is retroactive so any player who has earned at least 50,000 Full Tilt Points over the last 100 days immediately qualifies. Players can view an in-depth monitoring system from their "My Promotions" page.

The main benefit of the program is that players will earn FTPs at twice the normal rate at all times and 3x during Happy Hours. This means players will add approximately 4.8% in extra rakeback when receiving these extra points. Additional benefits of the new program will include exclusive access to a Black Card Store where players will have access to cash bonuses, luxury items and Full Tilt Black Card merchandise. Note that despite getting these new items in the store, players may get equal or better rates in the regular store, especially when purchasing tournament tickets. Other perks include entry into exclusive Black Card tournaments. Black Card members will also receive preferred treatment at live events with Full Tilt pros, as well as personalized customer service.

How hard is it to generate an average of 500 Full Tilt Points per day? Under the new way FTPs are earned, players will need to generate $50 in rake per day on average. Remember that a player doesn't have to generate the points EVERY day -- just average 500 FTPs a day during the last 100 days.

Players will actually receive a physical Black Card in the mail within 28 days, although the uses of the card itself are unknown at this time.
