Full Tilt Poker Black Card Changes

01/12/2011

In September of last year, Full Tilt Poker released Black Card, a rewards system supplement to the Iron Man Challenge that benefited players who averaged $50 in generated rake per day (500 Full Tilt Points). Full Tilt has decided to make some additional changes this month by adding tiers for players that generate 1,500 and 3,000 FTPs per day on average over 100 days. This is the equivalent of generating $150 or $300 in rake on average per day, respectively.

Full Tilt Black Card Basics

Before, the primary benefit for players who qualified for Black Card was that they would be able to earn Full Tilt Points at twice the normal rate (personalized customer service, access to special tournaments and exclusive treatment during live events are other, less notable perks). Now players that qualify for one of these other tiers will get to earn FTPs at an even faster rate: 3x the normal rate for players that average 1,500 FTPs per day and 4x for players that average 3,000 FTPs per day.

FTPs can be used to enter tournaments or for use in one of the Full Tilt Point stores. In general, the value of an FTP can vary from $0.004 to $0.005 per FTP. Despite this fact, FTPs are deducted from MGR at a rate of $0.005 per FTP, regardless of what is purchased.

Players who qualify for the Black Card program will effectively see more return than players who do not.

The Value of Black Card

Players without rakeback will receive the equivalent of 30.15% in rakeback when accounting for a regular FTP rate and 27% rakeback after the MGR deduction has been considered. After that players earn at the following rates:

2x Tier (500 FTPs per day on average): 33.3%
3x Tier (1500 FTPs per day on average): 36.45%
4x Tier (3000 FTPs per day on average): 39.60%

A simple way to look at the system is that players will receive the equivalent of 3.15% in dealt rakeback for every multiplier they earn. So a regular player who moves up to the 2x tier, would earn 3.15% more in rakeback. A player who was enjoying the benefits of the Black Card previously under the 2x tier will now earn either 3.15% (3x) or 6.30% (4x) more rakeback. It also should be noted that players earn even more points during regular Happy Hours or other special promotion periods. For example, a 4x tier player who is playing Shorthanded tables during a Happy Hour promotion (each are 2x promotions) would earn 6x the normal rate of FTPs. These rates don't even get into the value that players receive through bonuses, the Iron Man Challenge and special Rake Tracker promotions.
