Victory Poker Launch Weekend Trip Report

03/01/2010

Most of the time when a random number calls my cellphone I just let it go to voicemail, but I decided to answer last Wednesday to hear “Hello can I speak to Tom”... “Hi Tom, I've never met you but my name is Tim from RakeTracker.” It was an odd way to start a conversation, but it turned out there they were offering me a free entry to a $1,000 buy-in Celebrity charity tournament at the Hard Rock Casino followed up by the launch party for Victory Poker, a new Everleaf card room.

Friday night Tim and Arthur from Rake Tracker took me out to a great steak dinner at Del Frisco's steakhouse filled with prop bets and fun. We met up for the tournament on Saturday morning. I got a picture with Mr. Belding from saved by the bell (Dennis Haskins) and although I never got around to meeting Carrot Top, the tournament was a great time. Despite the fact that my table was one of the only ones without non-poker celebrities, I'm pretty sure it was one of the most fun tables at the tournament.

After an hour and a half and about 6 rounds of shots I busted the tournament only to find out that we were also invited to an after party at Vanity nightclub that included free drinks, a playboy photo-shoot or something like that, and Arthur from Rake Tracker talking to a girl for about an hour and half that he was 100% sure was Elaine from Seinfeld which is definitely not true (Editors Note: It was Susie Essman, aka Susie Greene from “Curb Your Enthusiasm”). All in all it was a great time and I was happy to meet Tim and Arthur from RakeTracker and would like to say thanks to Raketracker and Victory Poker for everything.

RakeTracker | The Rakeback Pioneer.

Believe it or not, there was a time in online poker’s history that there was no such thing as rakeback. When the seeds of Rake Tracker were first planted in 2003 almost all poker rewards came in the form of bonuses. Soon players wanted more. The RakeTracker business first started small, offering rakeback to players on a one-on-one basis and through referrals.

As the business grew, RakeTracker.com was launched as one of the first full-scale rakeback providers on the internet providing players with additional perks that they could receive in addition to bonuses – payout out rakeback since 2004. What is Rakeback?

All live and online card rooms take “rake” and “tournament fees” to run and operate their games. The amount of rake or fees taken will vary by game type and stake levels, but will generally be 5% of each pot for ring games and around 10% of the buy-in for tournaments.

With rakeback, players are returned a percentage of the rake that is attributed to them, usually 27%-40%. Simply put: Receiving rakeback and other promotions help winning poker players win more and losing poker players lose less. There is no reason not to get rakeback!
