Party Gaming Moves to Weighted Contributed
08/24/2011Party Gaming, the home of Party Poker, today changed the way Party Points are calculated, switching from the dealt method to the weighted contributed method. Unlike the dealt method, which allocates points equally to all Party Poker players who are dealt cards, the weighted contributed method awards players Party Points based on the percentage of money that was put into the pot.
For example, if you contribute 25% of the money towards a given pot, you will be credited with 25% of the rake. In the case of a player contributing 25% of a $60 pot with a $3 rake, they will receive credit for contributing $0.75 towards the rake. Because players receive 2 points for each $1 in rake, in this example the player will receive 1.50 points.
Players will likely notice some changes to their point earn rates. A player who plays a lot of hands and/or is very aggressive will likely earn points at a faster rate; tighter players who don't see many flops will likely see a decline in the number of Party Points they earn. Tournament and Sit N Go players are not affected by the change.
